Fun with acetone!

I love glitter polish but it is such a pain to get off! Since I am going back to work tomorrow I figured it would be a good time to take my Christmas mani off. It held up really well for five days! I had been wanting to try acetone for quite some time. It is supposed to be great for taking glitter off very easily. The nail community is really divided on acetone. Some people swear by it and use it only instead of regular nail polish remover. Other people think it's the worst thing ever (dries your nails, makes them brittle, etc) After one application I can say that I like it much better than nail polish remover. It took off Ruby Pumps with barely any effort; with remover it takes forever! I'll be giving my nails a couple day break but have a fun idea for New Years :)

I got this bottle at my local Target for 99 cents.

This took off nail polish so well! Even around the cuticles which can be such a  hard area. Definitely going to keep using the acetone but will keep an eye on my nails to see any bad side effects. What is your opinion on acetone?

Polish haul!

I have acquired many new polishes in the last month and a half or so and wanted to share. Lots of unique colors!

Top row: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Parrot, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Cherry Cherry Bang Bang, OPI in GoldenEye (part of the James Bond collection), OPI in The Living Daylights (also in the Bond collection), and Wet N Wild Megalast in Private Viewing.

Bottom row: JulieG in Ornamental (part of her holiday collection), JulieG in Oh Em Gee!, OPI in Royal Flush Blush, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Black Out, Finger Paints in Signed in Wine and Finger Paints in Tangerine Twist.

The JulieG collection is created by a youtube nail guru named JulieG713. (Available exclusively at RiteAid)  The cosmetic company Jesse's Girl approached her to make a line. Lucky girl! How fun would that be?!

I am excited about these and will be using several of these in my New Years nails :)

Christmas manicure

I know I am a few days late on this but here is my Christmas manicure for 2012. I wanted something pretty simple since I was working on Christmas and I use my hands all the time in my job. I ended up just painting all my nails one color and using my wedding ring finger nail as the accent nail with Rudolph on it. This design was actually the idea of the wonderful MissJenFabulous on youtube and I thought it was such a cute, simple and fun idea!

Colors used:
Red nails and Rudolph's nose: China Glaze's Ruby Pumps (one of my all time faves!)
White accent nail background and reindeer eyes: Sinful Colors' Snow Me White
Rudolph's face: Wet N Wild Megalast's Private Viewing
Antlers: Orly's Buried Alive (Another favorite!)
The pupils: Art Deco's NA902 Black (A great thin brush for nail art)

Pretty darn easy but cute none the less. It was a hit at Christmas :)

Starting over....

A few months ago I ambitiously created a nail blog that unfortunately bit the dust pretty quickly. This time I am determined to keep this up. I will review polishes, show manicures, highlight where I got my ideas, showcase other nail bloggers and youtube nail gurus, etc. I am looking forward to sticking with this and getting to know other nail art enthusiasts :)
