Bling!

Going to a supper meeting with my husband tonight so I wanted to dress up my nails a little bit :)

Base color: China Glaze Swing Baby
Glitter: Nicole by OPI's Rainbow in the S-kylie

St. Patty's Day!

Things have been so busy lately that I didn't have time to do a really fun shamrock mani like I wanted to do. I had a race so I wanted to at least do something.

Green: Sinful Colors Happy Ending
Gold: OPI Goldeneye from their James Bond 007 collection

SIck and stir crazy!

I have been sick almost two weeks with a bronchial infection. As such I have just felt like crud and haven't done my nails at all. Yesterday I decided I was tired of the plain nails and wanted a bright color to cheer me up. Enter Finger Paints' Tangerine Tint. (Two coats) I love this color. I discovered Finger Paints at Sally's and must get more once I feel better. It goes on super easily, very opaque and dries super fast :)

Seahawk Pride!

I forgot to post these. My home football team was in the championship games and unfortunately did not make it to the Super Bowl this year but I did these nails the night before they lost. Thought they were pretty fun (if not a little messy)

New, fun nail goodies!

For Christmas my brother in law got me an Amazon card so I got some nail stuff. Only thing has arrived so far.... A Konad stamp and scraper set. For those that don't know- www.konadnail.com

One of my birthday gifts from my husband was a mini set of some of the OPI James Bond polishes. As both a nail polish fanatic and James Bond lover I was stoked when this collection came out :)

Glitter Removal--The Easy Way!!

I have seen this technique in multiple youtube videos and nail blogs but just in case this is new to anyone else.... I absolutely love glitter polish but it is such a pain to get off. This uses cotton balls, acetone and aluminum foil.

First tear a sheet of foil into ten squares. I like the squares to be pretty big.

Next take a cotton ball soaked in acetone and place it over the polished nail.

Take a square of foil and wrap it around your nail and finger. Scrunch it down so it is flush against the skin. I usually fold the top down over real good to make a nice seal. Do this to all your nails. When your fingers look like a creature from a low budget sci-fi flick you are done :) I wait about 3-4 minutes.

When I take the foil pods off I usually twist them for a last minute sweep of the finger nail. The white is the residue left from the acetone. After this is all done I wash my hands really well with lots of soap and warm water. I use a nail brush on my cuticles and nails really well. Then I use a generous amount of cocoa butter lotion all over my hands, specifically focusing on my cuticles and nails. Acetone can be really rough on your skin but so far so good for me. I think good after care is the key! I love this method. Much better than scrubbing away forever!

New Years Nails!

I am not doing a very good job keeping this very well updated am I? Better late than never I suppose. This was a really fun design that I learned from JulieG713 on youtube. Also the first time I have ever done sponge gradients so that was fun!

I first started with painting all my nails with two coats of Ornamental from the JulieG line.

                                                                         So pretty!

I then took a makeup applicator sponge and put a small amount of Sally Hansen's Blackout on the tip and lightly sponged the tip of the nail and slightly down into a fade. Stopped about midnail.

After all nails were done I topped it off with two thick coats of The Living Daylights from OPI's James Bond Collection. This was a bit random. Some I did over the entire nail. Some I just did random spots. I really like how this turned out.

Birthday nails!

My birthday was this past weekend. I wanted a fun, easy mani for the day. I chose a new polish I recently purchased. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to take a picture before the polish started chipping but you still get the idea. I first painted all my nails with one light coat of China Glaze's Swing Baby-a grey/purple sparkle infused polish. Once that tried I put two coats of Nicole By OPI's Rainbow in the S-Kylie. It is part of their Kardashian collection (yes, they are nuts but the line is actually really cute) It is a clear base with many different colored glitters and large hexagonal glitter pieces. Reminds me of confetti.... Perfect for a birthday :)
